Skylights are lighting systems made in metacrylic, polycarbonate, or fibreglass. Their purpose is to emit natural light inside a room. They are differentiated according to where they are installed: pitched roof and ridge skylight come as either fixed or those that can be opened. The latter are available with either a manual or electric mechanism. Other than providing room aeration, they can serve as smoke and heat evacuators with an automated opening system.
